Westinghouse Savannah River Plant

Nuclear wastes in drums for Savannah River Plant. This project consists of two (2) strand chain conveyors that accumulate 55 gal drum of various waste materials and on demand dispatch selected drums into the containment space for emptying and drum crushing. The access to the containment space is through an air-lock door provided by contractor.

This project for disposal of drummed Nuclear waste on Johnston Atol (JACAADS) in the Pacific for Raytheon Division of The Washington Group International.

The function of the CMS (Carbon Micronization System) Drum Conveyor System is to transport 55-gallon, or 110-gallon drums of material into an environmentally controlled area for drum contents removal and drum crushing. Separating the input end of the conveyor and the processing end of the conveyor is a containment wall. The drum must pass through the air lock section of the conveyor in order to reach the processing area.

Lockheed Martin Environmental Systems & Technologies

A Chain Driven Live Roller Project for the Pit 9 Furnace Site in Pocatello, Idaho for the Vitrification and Encapsulation of Nuclear Waste in 55 gallon drums. System involved the accumulation and storage of various Waste Streams, segragation into like kinds, establishing a train of product to dispatch to the furnace input points and loading the drum contents into the furnace in controlled quantities. Contractor furnished the complete system with all conveyors, electrical controls and the complete setup and testing both as a vendor shop setup and as an offsite runin.
